Biography

Jacob graduated from Western Connecticut State University Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelors of Science in Music Education in May of 2013. He graduated from the American Band College of Central Washington University in 2019 with a Masters of Music in Education.

He began playing the trumpet in the year 2000, and has been performing as a freelance musician since 2006. During his time as a freelance musician, he has performed in many different venues, both as a soloist and as a member of various ensembles.

Jacob began playing the trumpet at the age of 10, and has not put the horn down since. In his first year playing, Jacob was able to play a “high C”, because his teacher promised to buy him Burger King. At the age of 10, that is always exciting. In the years that passed, he continued his mastery of the trumpet, through instruction at school, and also through private lessons.

Throughout his high school experience, Jacob was an active participant in many competitive music festivals. Over the course of his four years at Bristol Eastern High School, his festival experience ranged from Northern Regional Band and Orchestra, Connecticut All-State Band and Orchestra, and All-Eastern Region Band (a group composed of the top high school musicians on the eastern seaboard). Currently, Jacob is a member of the Plainville Wind Ensemble.

In 2006, Jacob began his career performing with a quartet at an Easter service at the Bristol Baptist Church, in Bristol Connecticut. Since then, he has performed in many different venues, for many different occasions. Over the years, he has continued to perform for broad spectrum of events, from memorial services to weddings.

Throughout his career, Jacob has studied under the instruction of Pamela J. Schimek, Ken Bell Jr., Pete Roe, and Rich Clymer. Each of his teachers have helped him to grow into the musician that he is today.
